Woody Herman
The Jazz Kings end their 2007-08 tribute to the Age of Swing with evening dedicated to the versatile and highly
innovative clarinetist Woody Herman, who became well-known in the early '40s for his band's blues-tinged sound.
Herman outlasted them all, leading bands for over 50 years, and well after all of the other great band leaders
had called it quits.

Summer Music Camps at OFAM '08, Jul 27-Aug 10
Young Artist Academy Camps '08

The Shedd Institute announces the 2008 Young Artist Academy, July 27-August 10th. Offered each summer in conjunction with
the Institute's songbook extravaganza, Oregon Festival of American Music, the Young Artist Academy is a complex of
music camps that focus on jazz, musical theater and general performance skills and takes full advantage of the performance and
workshop opportunities afforded by the program's interface with OFAM.
The Jazz Academy, for artists aged 12-19, focuses on jazz performance.
The Song & Dance Camp, for artists aged 13-19, focuses on theater arts skills.
Little Vaudeville
Session 1 and
Session 2,
for ages 7-12, focuses on developing
basic singing, dancing and performance skills. Each camp offers plenty of opportunity to perform,
culminating in a ticketed public concert in the Jaqua Concert Hall at The Shedd.
