Kathryn Leonard is a native of Portland, graduated from Marylhurst University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. While a resident of Portland, Kathryn gave solo recitals in venues such as Pittock Mansion and The Old Church and performed as a member of the Portland Symphonic Choir. Upon moving to Eugene in the fall of 2009, Kathryn began singing with the Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble and the Eugene Concert Choir. This season, she performed solos in the Vocal Arts Ensemble’s Romance and Fantasy and the Concert Choir’s British Invasion, earning praise from the Eugene Register Guard as an “outstanding” performer. Kathryn, a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, is on the voice faculty of The Shedd Institute. She also acts as the curriculum designer and lead instructor for The Shedd’s innovative Music Box program. Kathryn serves as the Music Director for the Eugene Concert Choir’s Outreach Program, in which she helps to bring free music education to schools without music programs.
