From 1933 to ‘38 RKO Radio Pictures made 8 film musicals that made legends Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Notable for silly stories and unbelievably good dancing created by Astaire and choreographer Hermes Pan, these films also just happened to featured many of the greatest songs by the greatest tunesmiths of the decade: Irving Berlin, George & Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Dorothy Fields, and Jerome Kern. So yeah, the dancing was brilliant and revolutionary, but those songs! “Night And Day”, “I Won’t Dance”, “Let Yourself Go”, “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off”, “The Way You Look Tonight”, “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”…Those songs were phenomenal! So we’re doing them.
