2001 Presenting Festival Sponsor
Dick Hyman and his large jazz band welcome African drummer Obo Addy and his traditional drum and dance group Okropong and the great Piedmont blues team of John Cephas and Phil Wiggins for a tremendous OFAM 2001 grand finale under the stars at Cuthbert Amphitheater.
The program opens with Obo Addy and company performing tradition music of Ghana. Cephas and Wiggins follow with their exceptional blues stylings. Finally, Dick's big band takes the stage with a set heavy on the Duke, both early and late, with a solid train emphasis. At the grand finale everyone joins in on an extended version of Louis Prima's driving "Sing Sing Sing". A great way to end OFAM 2001!
