"Her fingers flew across the frets and nylon strings, stretching out to construct improbably expansive chords or play lightning-fast arpeggios." —Washington Post
The younger sister of Lebanese-Brazilian classical guitarists Sergio & Odair, Badi Assad* is one of Brazil's most talented performers. A heartfelt vocalist who sings in English and Portuguese and is known for her Bobby McFerrin-like improvisations, Assad is also one of the country's preeminent guitarists. In 1995, Assad was voted Best Acoustic Fingerstyle Guitarist by editors of Guitar Player, while readers of the magazine named her album Rhythms the Best Classical Album of the Year.
Assad's first release was Dança Dos Tons, released in Brazil in 1989. Her first worldwide release was Solo (1993). Subsequent recordings include Rhythms (1995), Echoes of Brazil (1997), Chameleon (1998), Dança das Ondas (2004), and Verde (2005).
